Summer is here and our brand new workshop took place at Tom’s Flagship Thessaloniki as part of the 3rd FamFiesta by Kidot. The title of our new project was “God Dionysus and the pirates” and through 3D dioramas children (4-12 years) learned about the myth of Dionysus and the transformation of the pirates.
Dionysus, the god of wine, wanted passage across from Ikaria to Naxos. So he hired a pirate ship. Unfortunately for him, the pirates had other plans. They sailed past Naxos and headed for Asia, where they intended to sell him. When he found out about their plan, he changed the mast and the oars into snakes and filled the boat with ivy and the sound of flutes. The men went mad and dove into the sea, trying to save themselves. In the end, god Dionysus took pity on them and transformed them into cute dolphins. Since then, dolphins swim near ships and are very friendly to humans.
The children also decorated old CD’s with pirates and
dolphins using recyclable materials. They even made their own sea with
sea-shells and sand on the ground. They unfolded their creativity and energy
and they made incredible works of art! We’d like to thank the
organization team and all the participants!! Let the summer begin! Until next time!!!
