KALIKANTZAROI-THE GREEK GOBLINS

Our new, tailor-made Christmas workshop took place in Olicatessen, a modern grocery store situated at the heart of the oldest commercial neighborhood in the centre of Thessaloniki.

Children (aged 5-12) "transformed’’ into kalikantzaroi (goblins in greek folklore who steal the X-mas sweets from the houses during the holidays) and tried to sneak into the home of Mr Sugarfree. Through various activities and games, they unlocked the secrets of Mr Sugarfree and managed to steal his Christmas candies. But what a surprise!!! All of his candies were sugar free but they were delicious!!

WHEN GREEK GODS GOT ANGRY...

Why does the spider weave all day and night her web? Why does the turtle carry around her home all the time? Well, all the answers were given to us by ancient Greeks!

The Elysian team created a new project for the 3^rd Flea Market & Street Food SKG by Upnloud entitled in greek "Δύο μύθους θα σας πω". During the first part, the participants (aged 5-12) listened carefully to the narration of two greek myths concerning two beautiful women who turned into animals by the gods. Then, through interactive activities and games, they tried to reverse the spell and make them human beings again.

The children also made their own turtle and spider with clay. They unfolded their creativity and energy and they made incredible works of art! We’d like to thank the organization team and all the participants!! It was an amazing and unforgettable experience! Until next time!!!

CHRISTMAS WORKSHOPS

Elysian’s next project had to do with History of Art, an area we really love! Inspired by the holiday spirit, we created a brand new workshop for two events in Thessaloniki, Greece -the 2nd Flea Market and Street Food SKG by Upnloud and HOLY TOMS (Toms Flagship Thessaloniki).

The title of the workshop was "The colours of Christmas"!!! 3 different paintings, 3 different movements, 3 different countries. Similarities and differences, questions, answers and various observations about these works. An image of a Christmas tree serves as an inspiration for our participants. The room was filled with glitter, bows, little ornaments and of course the children’s X-mas trees. An hour of creative learning, joy and artistry!! We’d like to thank the organization teams from both events and all the participants for their energy!! We’ll be back soon with more projects… Happy holidays!!!

OUR WORKSHOPS ARE HERE!

Meet a typical greek family…or not!! When Typhon met Echidna, they created the most famous mythological creatures!! The Elysian team planned and presented at Greenwave Festival and at Flea Market & Street Food Festival (both held in Thessaloniki, September 2016) the workshop entitled "The Monster Family".

Through interactive activities and various games, children from 6 to 11 years old became familiar with greek mythology, learned about these creatures and their powers and gained inspiration so as to create their own monster!
